Black Men Smile™ supports #NoLongerSilent

In honor of World Mental Health Day, which is observed on October 10th every year with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues and mobilizing efforts in support of better mental health, the creators of Black Men Smile contribute their voices to the #NoLongerSilent project.

Identity

Hear Carlton discuss his struggle with depression, the issue of identity, and the importance of persistence.

Confront It

Hear Devan discuss his struggle with suicidal thoughts, silence, and the importance of vulnerability and connection.

Created by our long-term friend and collaborator Breonca Trofort, #NoLongerSilent is a personal project with the hopes of removing the stigma surrounding mental illness and depression. To help persons realize that you can gain back control of the light at the end of the tunnel. The goal of the #NoLongerSilent movement is to create an outlet which will lead to conversations about depression and mental illness, with hopes that it will break down barriers within households.

With our voices, we can break the silence. With our ears, we can break down the stigma.
